The Martinmas Feast and Slient Auction (November 15th, 2008) In honor of St. Martin of Tours - A Roman soldier who was so moved by a beggar’s nakedness that he used his sword to cut his own robe in half. This image shapes our view of Martin, but it is also said that the robe was restored when he awoke. St. Martin went on to travel through Gaul and convert pagans in the countryside, and ultimately, live a hermit’s life. His feast day is celebrated throughout Europe – in many ways is like St. Nicholas, a patron of giving – with gifts and a little merriment. More details to follow, but please save the date!
